Andrew Robinson

Andrew Robinson, Optometrist

Andrew became a partner at ICU in 2010 after gaining his B.App.Sc (Opt) from QUT in 2006, followed by his Grad.Dip. in Ocular Therapeutics the following year. His particular areas of professional interest include children’s vision, orthokeratology, and specialty contact lenses, and he has spoken on several occasions at optometry conferences.

In a previous life Andrew was an award-winning orchestral conductor, leading the likes of the New York Ballet and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. He still waves a stick or blows his flute in public from time to time. He now lives south of the river with his family, indulges in all things mathematical, scientific and generally nerdy, and is a keen (though not especially fast) cyclist.

In 2016 Andrew has been invited to participate in the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital (LCCH) Eye Clinic's Paediatric Optometry Alignment Pilot Program. This innovative program plans to establish a network of dedicated and specialised eye health clinicians (Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and Orthoptists) with up-to-date knowledge and skills to deliver an exceptional level of care for children with eye--related problems. The program will provide aligned optometrists with access to education resources for effectively treating children as well as a direct communication link with the clinicians of the LCCH Eye Clinic in order to seek advice in the care of individual children where necessary. This ensures your child will be treated by an optometrist who is in partnership with some of Queensland's leading children's eye healch clinicians with a charter to deliver the best possible care.
