If you would like to make an appointment for an eye examination, please fill in the form below. Please advise which day and time would suit you, and whether you have visited our practice before. We will phone you to confirm your appointment.
Your first examination:
At ICU our philosophy is to give you the best vision, and the best eye health care, that we possibly can. For this reason, we have a structured program – Great Sight For Life – designed to give us the big picture of your eye health, allowing us to spot risk factors and
manage them appropriately. Your first visit to ICU will take about 45 minutes in the consulting room. The consultation involves a thorough history of your general and eye health; this is then followed by comprehensive vision and health testing procedures. Your pupils will not be dilated at your first visit, unless you report symptoms (flashing lights, new “floaters”) consistent with a retinal tear or detachment.
The total cost of the first visit is $90.65, and you should receive about $56 of this back through Medicare. The exception to this is when you’ve had a comprehensive test at another optometrist within the last 2 years, in which case your Medicare refund will be reduced. The $90.65 includes retinal photography ($25), which is only ever charged once. Your Medicare refund is easy to obtain, and we can do the paperwork for you and organize for the refund to go directly into your bank account.
For pensioners, health care card holders and DVA Gold Card holders, your consultation is bulk-billed to Medicare and the once-off cost of your retinal photography is $20.
