For our Colleagues

For our Colleagues

We are delighted to make the use of our facilities and services available to our colleagues throughout the greater Brisbane area.

We are optometrists dedicated to the greater good of our patients, just like you are. Besides practising bread-and-butter optometry, we love our toys. We are nerds :) and we love nothing better than a good piece of electronic imaging equipment, so we have quite a few of them.

We’ve both spent time previously in practices with minimal electronic equipment, and we now wish to make this sort of technology available to our colleagues.

We love optometry, and we want our practice, and your practice, to be all that they can be. That’s why we’re offering you ready access to our services and instrumentation.

What are some specifics?

Services that we offer to our colleagues’ patients include:

·         Optical coherence tomography
·         Retinal photography
·         Slit lamp photography
·         Topography
·         Medmont Computerized Perimetry

"But the patients remain my patients, right?"

Of course. Just like you, it’s always irked us when we’ve referred patients to other practitioners for whatever reason, only to then lose contact with those patients.

We have a healthy respect for other optometrists, and we always make it very clear to referred patients that they will be returning to the care of the referring optometrist.

The exceptions would be when it has been made very clear, by the referring optometrist, that the patient is to remain in our care.

What are ICU's fees?

We charge normal private charges under Medicare, and direct-bill for DVA, pension and health care card holders.

Other patient charges may include (per session):

·         Retinal photography $25
·         OCT (Zeiss Stratus) $70
·         Slit lamp imaging $30
·         Topography $25

All services include a report back to the referring optometrist. Where optoms’ email addresses are given, we use these for our reports, with links to de-identified Picasa online images.

This means all you’d need to do is to click on the link we’d send you, and you’d have immediate access to your patients’:

·         Retinal photographs
·         OCT images
·         Slit lamp images
·         Topography
